Man, dead after being shot by a seaman due to a fight over a billiards bet
A man is dead after he was shot outside a billiard room by someone he had an argument with over a bet in Caloocan City. The suspect, said to be a seaman who was about to leave.
In Jun Veneracion's report on GMA News "24 Oras" this Thursday, it can be seen in the CCTV camera shot outside the billiards that the suspect was being taken away by the man he was with who is his father.
The victim followed them until they disappeared from the CCTV angle.
When he returned to the area, it was seen that the victim was holding his chest and the suspect was following him with a gun.
He was shot several times even though he was down.
The victim, identified as Mark Martin, died instantly.
According to Police Captain Ziolo Lopez, chief of the Tuna Sub-Station, Caloocan PNP, nine shell casings from a caliber .45 gun were found at the crime scene.
The suspect, Jose Dwight Vergara III, who according to relatives is a seaman who was about to board the ship, fled.
According to the witness, the suspect and the victim had an argument over a bet while watching a billiards game.
"The person was challenged to a fight, and the person was carrying a gun. The father pulled it out and Mark followed," said the witness.
While searching for the suspect, the police are studying his father's responsibility for the crime.
The relatives encouraged the suspect to surrender and face the case.
"Just a call to my nephew and brother to fix their problem. If they have to float, just float," according to the suspect's uncle.
The wife of the victim who has five children is crying for justice.
"He took a lot from us, not only my husband's life, he took my children away from my father, he took away my husband, my brothers and sisters. Many people lost because of the jar he put there on my wife," according to the victim's wife. -- FRJ, GMA Integrated News
