An elderly man of approximately 65 years old, identified so far only as “Velho das Cachorras”, resident of Rua Santa Rita, in Bairro da Jitirana, in Carnaíba, in the backlands of Pernambuco, was found in the early hours of this Monday 6th, dead inside from his residence, near Açude Velho.
According to popular reports on Blog do Cauê Rodrigues, at least the sound of two gunshots were heard in the early hours of the morning. He was hit in the face near the living room window, where he died.
He was known in the city for carrying out some thefts and for adopting more than a dozen dogs at home, due to this action he gained the nickname “old dog”.
A video sent to the Cauê Rodrigues Blog Editor shows one of the animals eating the elderly man's head, in the region where he was shot. The Municipal Guard is on site and has isolated it pending the arrival of the Scientific Police. The body will be sent to the Caruru Legal Medical Institute.
The victim was involved in another criminal action on March 28th, when he was traveling along a section of PE 320, near Posto Vale, in Carnaíba, accompanied by his friend Gilson Malassombro, when they got involved in a disturbance. Malassombro ended up being shot several times and dying at the scene. The old man with the dogs would be a witness to the crime.

In the early hours of this Thursday (28th of March), Carnaíba recorded its first homicide of the year. Preliminary information indicates that a man was fatally shot by gunfire on the banks of PE 320, close to Posto Vale.

The victim was identified as Gilson Malassombro, a native of the Matolotagem community, in Flores, however, he currently resided in the Carnaíba Velha neighborhood.
According to witness reports to Blog do Cauê Rodrigues , Gilson was in the company of a friend, enjoying alcoholic drinks on the side of the highway, when a person on a motorcycle approached. An argument allegedly began, culminating in the individual on the motorcycle pulling out a gun and firing the fatal shots.
The area was isolated by the police, who were promptly called. The Carnaíba civil police are in charge of the investigations.
This tragic event marks the first homicide recorded in Carnaíba in the year 2024. With this crime this Monday, May 6th, Carnaíba now records the second homicide of 2024.
