A 14-year-old boy was injured after he crossed the protective barriers of the jaguar shelter 

at the León Zoo (Zooleón), Guanajuato. 

The minor is out of danger and was treated immediately.



The events occurred on the afternoon of this Saturday, July 23, around 2:00 p.m., 

according to local media.



The minor, originally from the municipality of Irapuato, identified as José "N", 

suffered an injury to his left ankle, caused by the feline, 

after he got very close to the cage, supposedly to take a picture with him.



Due to the above, the Zoo reported in a statement that the mishap occurred 

because the minor approached the jaguar shelter despite the warning signs.



Supposedly, he would have put his foot between the bars of the place when 

suddenly one of the jaguars bit him, causing injuries to his foot and making him lose tennis, 

the same with which he played for a while.



"It is important to mention that there is signage not to violate the security barriers, 

this to safeguard the integrity and security of our visitors, 

as well as the fauna collection of the Zooleón".



The minor would have been treated by paramedics from the Red Cross who later transferred 

him to a hospital, where he re-reported that his health was stable.



Zooleón added that what happened does not put the teenager at risk and that 

they offered their support to the family and that 

they are in contact with the parties involved in the events.
