24-year-old man, Deandre Brunston was shot to death with 81 fire rounds, from which 22 hit him, by police officers in Compton California, in 2003, August 8th. He was sought by the force in relation to a domestic abuse complaint and even if the officers were supposed only to arrest him, he ended up dying due to resistance. He claimed he had a gun and would not hesitate to shoot and the triggering factor that lead to his death was him throwing a flip-flop sandal towards the police officers. The footage and crime scene analysis showed that Brunston was not in possession of any fire-arm, helping his family win the trial against the officers at the scene and receiving a settlement of $340,000.
Deandre Brunston became a symbol against police negligent training and brutality, even if no specific deputy was charged of any crime.
