A 15-year-old student was shot in the back when he was returning from school and tried to escape from an assault committed by two motojets who, after shooting him, finally stole his cell phone, in the Buenos Aires town of Ingeniero Budge, Lomas de Zamora district, reported today police sources.

The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. yesterday at the intersection of Saladillo and Geneva streets in the aforementioned town in the south of the suburbs, four blocks from secondary school number 30, when a fourth-year student who was returning home was approached by two criminals on a motorcycle.

The thief who was riding on the back of the motorcycle got out of the armed vehicle and rebuked the young man, who ran away with the first intention of escaping.

The criminal shot him in the back, the student fell wounded and threw his cell phone, which was collected by the thief, who then escaped with the accomplice.

Police spokesmen indicated that the student was hospitalized today out of danger but that he had to undergo surgery.

The sequence was recorded on a video from a security camera that investigators are analyzing to try to identify and arrest the perpetrators.

The case, for which there are no detainees, is being investigated by the 10th police station. Engineer Budge and by the prosecutor's office on duty in the judicial department of Lomas de Zamora.
