A canadair 28 of the firefighters on fire service crashed on Etna, in the Linguaglossa area. The two pilots who were on board are missing. The 118 rescuers arrived on the spot with several ambulances and police forces. The fire brigade search teams are currently at work in the area. On site there is also a team of experts Speleo Alpine fluviale (Saf), as well as a helicopter from the Sicilian Region Forestry Corps. The aircraft was engaged in extinguishing the fire in progress on Mount Calcinera, in the municipality of Linguaglossa. The canadair would have crashed following the impact of the hull against the coast of the mountain, on the slopes of Etna. The canadair had recently refueled at sea, in the area in front of Giarre, and then resumed the fire extinguishing operation. The crash, according to some witnesses present on the spot, was followed by an explosion, which caused a large fire.
