CCTV footage filmed in the city of Shenzhen in Guangdong Province on March 17 shows the doors suddenly closing catching a girl’s foot when she was getting off a bus.
She was dragged along the road for several metres until the bus driver realised the incident and stopped the vehicle.
According to the bus driver named Zhang, he only checked the left side mirror before starting the bus. By the time he looked in the right mirror, he saw the girl fall down and immediately stopped the bus and called for the ambulance.
The girl’s right foot was broken and she also had multiple soft tissue injuries.
Zhang was blamed for the incident and he was responsible for the girl’s medical expenses. He has since been punished with temporary suspension.
Officials from Shenzhen Western Bus Company, where Zhang works, have confirmed that the girl is alright now and they will follow up on her treatment.
