One student died and three others were injured after a shooting attack inside the Sapopemba State School , in the East Zone of São Paulo , on Monday morning (23). The information was confirmed by the São Paulo government .

According to the Public Security Secretariat, a 15-year-old teenager, also a student, entered the school with a gun and fired shots. He was seized along with the weapon. Until the last update of this report, the police had not disclosed the motivation for the attack or the origin of the weapon.

In total, three students were hit by gunfire. The victim who did not survive his injuries had been shot in the head. Two others were injured in the chest and collarbone. A fourth student was injured when trying to escape during the attack, according to a statement released by the state government.

The injured were taken to the emergency room at Sapopemba General Hospital. No details about their health status were released.

Still in a note, the state management regretted what happened and said that the priority is to provide assistance to the victims' families.

"The government of SP deeply regrets and sympathizes with the families of the victims of the attack that occurred on the morning of this Monday (23) at the Sapopemba State School. At this moment, the priority is to provide assistance to the victims and psychological support to students, professionals from education and family."
