Man is shot dead in the Boca da Mata neighborhood

A man identified only as Lindomar was shot dead this Saturday morning (04), in the Boca da Mata neighborhood, on the corner of Rua Petrônio Portela. According to information from the Military Police, he owned a commercial establishment and was surprised by two men on a motorcycle who fired firearms at him. 

Authorities have already begun a rigorous investigation to uncover the motivations behind Lindomar's murder and to track down the crime suspects. Search operations are underway in an attempt to capture those involved in the attack.

Cases of attempted murder this weekend

In addition to this murder that occurred this morning in the Boca da Mata neighborhood, last night (3), Imperatriz was the scene of violence with two men seriously injured in separate stabbing incidents in two neighborhoods of the city. 

The first case, shocking in its brutality, occurred in Bairro Nova Imperatriz. The victim, a man whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was admitted to Socorrão Municipal Hospital with very serious injuries, with exposed viscera, a sign of the extreme violence of the attack suffered on Rua Brasil.

The police were notified and have already begun investigations to clarify the circumstances of the attack and identify the person responsible for the crime that left the residents of Bairro Nova Imperatriz on alert.

On the same night, a similar incident occurred in the Conjunto Vitória neighborhood. A man was stabbed after rejecting harassment on Rua Coletora 4, becoming yet another stabbing victim. Preliminary information provided by a friend of the victim, who witnessed the attack, reported that the two were walking down the street when they were approached by an individual who, after having his harassment rejected, attacked the victim with a knife, hitting him in the abdomen.

The two cases highlight a night of violence in Imperatriz, placing authorities in an intense search for the criminals, who fled. Meanwhile, the health status of the victims has not yet been released.

Operation Close Barracks

During this weekend, the Civil and Military Police of Imperatriz carried out Operation Fecha Quartel, to intensify security in the city. The operation began because of the All Souls' Day holiday, which began on Thursday (2) and runs until Sunday (5). 

The objective is mainly to guarantee a peaceful and safe holiday for the population, curbing crimes such as robberies, drug trafficking and homicides. The operations have been carried out since the beginning of the month.

The “Fecha Barracks” operation, in the area of ​​the 3rd and 14th battalion, lasted for almost the entire month of October and continues during the holidays and weekends. During the operation, police barriers will be set up at strategic points in the city and region, along with patrolling in neighborhoods with personnel on foot, motorized and aerial, in addition to support from the CTA helicopter.
