A criminal police officer killed one criminal and wounded another when he reacted to an attempted robbery on Thursday afternoon (14/12), in eastern São Paulo. He was arriving home on his motorcycle when he was approached by two men, also on a motorcycle. On noticing the robbers, the officer fired a shot.

A security camera recorded the moment the suspects approached the 44-year-old criminal police officer in Rua Raio do Sol, in Sapopemba. Then, after the shots were fired, he immobilized the two men and recorded the scene.

"I was just getting to the door of my house. I saw them coming after me, following me. When I went to get off, I looked in the rearview mirror and they were coming into the street," says the officer in the video. He also claims that the assailants said they were going to kill him.

The 20-year-old robber who was riding the motorcycle died at the scene. The teenager on the back was also shot and taken to Sapopemba Hospital. The minor was discharged from hospital and taken to the police station with his guardian, where he remains at the disposal of the Juvenile Court.

According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the case was registered as attempted vehicle theft and death resulting from police intervention at the 69th Police Station (Teotônio Vilela), which requested advice from the DHPP.
