The incident occurred on Friday 17th November, DF (Brasília.)

The accident between a public bus and a freight train happened in the afternoon, in the Road Freight Transport Sector, resulting in one fatality and five injuries. The Fire Department, called at around 4:23 pm, reported that they were told a bus had collided with the train, which was carrying 102 wagons loaded with bauxite. Several witnesses had recorded the accident, seemingly showing the bus ignoring signals or even stuck.

A thirty seven year old woman succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, her body sliced in two on the tracks. Her family were informed of her tragic death.

Five people were rescued, two of them in serious condition and taken to the Hospital de Base do DF: an unconscious and unstable man with head trauma, and a fifty eight year old woman with head injuries and broken limbs.

Three victims, with bruises, were taken to local hospitals: a forty seven year old man and a nineteen year old girl to Ceilândia Hospital, and the bus driver, a forty two year old man in a state of shock, to a hospital still not identified. The train driver was unharmed.

The site remained closed for inspection and removal of the vehicles, while the causes of the accident will be investigated thoroughly.
