A driver of a VW/Gol vehicle, with Nova Santa Rosa license plates, living in Alto Santa Fé, ran over 42-year-old Carla Kroning, who was confirmed dead after being taken to Bom Pastor hospital by the municipality's ambulance late on Tuesday afternoon (26).

Carla was riding a bicycle with her friends and stopped on the side of the road, off the road, at the "curve of the dams" as this point is known. Carla and her friends were talking when the driver of the Gol, who was going in the same direction, hit Carla on the bend, throwing the cyclist 40 meters away from the point of the accident, indicating that he was going at a speed incompatible with the permitted speed.

When the woman was rescued, she was unconscious and showed no vital signs, and her death was confirmed minutes later at the hospital.

The driver of the Gol remained at the scene. A Samu ambulance was called to help the cyclist, but as it arrived late it ended up taking the driver of the car to hospital, with minor injuries at first.

The Military Police were called to carry out a breathalyzer test because they suspected that the driver might be drunk, but as he was in hospital the officers were unable to carry out the test and returned without being able to prove whether or not the driver had alcohol in his blood.

The Nova Santa Rosa Military Police attended the incident and carried out all the procedures that should be forwarded to the Civil Police.
