A 38-year-old man died on Tuesday 30th after the gas cylinder of an air-conditioning unit exploded. Gyula Morais Csehes was servicing the unit at a company in Tabuleiro do Martins, Maceió, when he suffered the accident.

According to the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu), Gyula suffered a deformed face, a fractured skull and serious burns. He died at the State General Hospital (HGE).

Gyula was known as Titico and owned an air conditioning and refrigeration company in the municipality of Coruripe. He had six children. His daughter posted a tribute on social media.

Elgin, the manufacturer of the air conditioner that exploded, said in a statement that it is investigating the details of the accident.

ELGIN sympathizes with the family and also informs them that the technical supplier involved in the incident was rescued and attended to, and is receiving all the necessary professional support.

ELGIN clarifies that this technical provider is not part of its authorized and/or accredited network.

ELGIN deeply regrets what happened and reiterates that it follows all technical procedures and standards, is certified by the competent bodies, and is investigating all the details of the incident.
