AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department released body camera video and 911 calls connected with a deadly stabbing at a north Austin home on Jan. 21.
Austin police officers shot a man, later identified as Jose Reynaldo Martinez-Argueta, 26, after they were called to the home near the 12300 block of Uttimer Lane for a reported stabbing, APD said.

Martinez-Argueta was charged with murder in connection with the incident. Two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon were also added, according to Travis County jail records.
The caller said someone had been stabbed multiple times, and the victim “was bleeding a lot,” APD said.
Around eight minutes after the 911 call, Austin police entered the unlocked home and saw Martinez-Argueta with a knife, holding a woman with multiple stab wounds, APD said.
“To protect the life of the victim, the three officers discharged their Department-approved firearms; hitting Mr. Martinez-Argueta,” APD said in the release.
Martinez-Argueta was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition, APD said.
APD released the video and 911 call audio on its YouTube page Friday.
APD identified the three officers who fired their department-approved guns Friday. APD said Officer Jacob Porter, who has 4 years of service with APD, Officer Valerie Machado, who has 5 years and 11 months of service with APD, and Officer Cody Crumplar, who has 8 months of service with APD, fired their weapons and have been placed on administrative leave, per APD protocol.
A man and woman were taken to the hospital with critical injuries. They have been released from the hospital and are recovering from their injuries, APD said.
Another woman, later identified by police as 30-year-old Maryuri Leticia Reconco-Moncada, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators determined Martinez-Argueta and Reconco-Moncada, were in a relationship. Police said the two had a fight, which led to Martinez-Argueta stabbing Reconco-Moncada, APD said in the release.
APD will have two investigations into the shooting: a criminal investigation with the APD Special Investigations Unit and the Travis County District Attorney’s Office and an administrative investigation by the APD Internal Affairs Unit, with oversight from the Office of Police Oversight, police said.
