4th March 2024 – (Hong Kong) A fatal traffic accident occurred on Tate’s Cairn Highway near the A Kung Kok Street roundabout in Sha Tin, leading to the death of one driver and leaving another seriously injured. At approximately 10.38am, a private car and a taxi were involved in a collision, which subsequently led to an even more tragic incident.
As the drivers of the two vehicles exited to discuss the accident, they were violently struck by a 10.4-tonne truck, which was unable to come to a stop in time. The force of the impact left both men grievously injured on the road. The taxi driver was quickly transported to the hospital. However, despite intense efforts to save the private car driver at the scene and then at the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. The 58-year-old truck driver was subsequently arrested by police.
