Couple killed after argument with customer in convenience store would receive R$240 to secure the location

The couple Vanderley Antônio de Lima, 31, and Edinéia Gonçalves Oliveira, 32, security guards who were shot to death after an argument in a convenience store in Guarapuava , in the central region of Paraná, always worked together.

Larissa de Oliveira, a close friend of the couple, said that the two were always together, even at work. On the day of the crime, each person would receive R$120 to provide security for the convenience store in the early hours of the morning.

"They were super partners. I could always count on them to be there. In addition to being confidant friends, they were practically part of our family. They were working honestly and gave their lives to earn a measly R$120", she said emotionally.

The two had been married for seven years and have four children aged 12, 4 and two 1-year-old twins.

The crime occurred around 1 am on Saturday (23), in the Conradinho neighborhood, central region of the city, according to the Military Police (PM).

Vanderley and Edinéia's funerals are scheduled for 4pm on Sunday (24). There will be a procession to the Guarapuava municipal cemetery.

"They were not afraid of anything. They were heroes and always faced everything, and together", he said.

The 43-year-old suspect who murdered the couple fled the scene after the crime and was found hiding on the Rural do Guabiroba road early Saturday afternoon.

The fight

According to midshipman Bordinhon, from the Military Police (PM), minutes before the crime, there was a disagreement between the security guards and the 43-year-old suspect, at the convenience.

The shooter left in a car and returned to the scene minutes later armed and shot at the victims, who were hit in the chest.

"We found the two security guards shot in the chest area. At first there was a disagreement between one of the bar's regulars and them", he said.

Edinéia died before help arrived, according to the PM.

Vanderley was rescued by the mobile emergency care service (Samu) and taken to the hospital in serious condition, but he did not survive.

The case is being investigated by the Civil Police.
