A fiery crash at a busy intersection in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Windsor Hills killed six people. A Mercedes, driven by a Nurse from Texas, reportedly accelerated to 130 km just before the crash. Nicole Linton drove the car significantly higher than the permitted speed limit and rammed several vehicles after running a red light. Footage from security video revealed that the impact had cut one vehicle in half while a few others burst into flames. The tragic incident happened on August 4.
California Police arrested Nicole, driver of the offending vehicle, on August 8 on charges of six counts of murder, vehicular manslaughter, and gross negligence. Court documents filed by the LA county District Attorney's office claim that Nicole drove the car at 130 mph at the time of the accident. Even before the crash, the speed was much higher at 90mph in the busy neighbourhood area.
The unfortunate incident cut short several precious lives. Ashley Ryan and her 11-month-old son and boyfriend were on their way to a prenatal check-up. Ashley was eight and a half months pregnant. The dead included two other women and a man. Besides, several people were injured, which included six children and two adults. The horrible tragedy has created shock in Los Angeles.

Linton's lawyers claimed that Nicole had a shock mental breakdown and lost consciousness before the accident. However, the prosecution side submitted that she (Linton) was fully conscious and had total control of the steering.She drove straight towards the road intersection and made no attempts to move away. The Prosecution further added. The Prosecution had analysed the data from the damaged car, and their (prosecution) views are based on the reports. Nicole Linton, on conviction, may face a maximum 90 years sentence for murder and car manslaughter.
