The man responded to the name of William Rodríguez Arias, 46 years old.
According to reports, the former soldier was traveling on his motorcycle when he was ambushed by two elements on board a motorcycle and they immediately fired several shots at him, wounding him and robbing him of his firearm.
Although he was taken by passersby to the Nuestra Señora de Regla Hospital, Rodríguez Arias died while receiving medical attention in the emergency room.
The National Police's rapid response team, as well as agents from the National Criminal Investigations Directorate (DICRIM), led by Colonel Yudith Almonte, collected various pieces of evidence and videos from security cameras in the area and immediately began an investigation into this violent incident that occurred on Sunday morning.
Rodríguez Arias' body was sent to the Regional Institute of Forensic Sciences in the province of Azua for the corresponding purposes.
