Saúl Josué Rivera González died this afternoon on Tuesday, September 17, after three days of fighting in a private health center, after being seriously injured in an armed attack inside a chicken roastery in the center of Machala.

The incident occurred on Saturday, September 14, at around 2:10 p.m., when a man dressed in black entered the establishment, located on Boyacá Street, between Las Palmeras Avenue and Vela. The subject, who had sat at a table near the victims, suddenly stood up and shot Manuel David Guncay Minga, 38, who died on the spot after receiving several bullet impacts in the chest.

In addition to Guncay, Rivera and a woman identified as Sandy R. were also injured in the attack. Restaurant workers and customers, upon hearing the shots, assisted the victims and took them to a nearby clinic, where Guncay's immediate death was confirmed.

Rivera, who was hit in the right side of the abdomen, remained in critical condition until he finally died on September 17.

The attacker fled the scene after the shooting, and authorities are now analyzing a video that was spread through social media, where the hitman is seen dressed in black.
