I used to believe so as well but a human body contains a surprising amuunt of oxygen inside the bloodstream, even without it, one can still run around until muscles seize or brain starts to shut down. Can still be revived though, unless 10+ mins pass, with a guaranteed brain damage after about 6 minutes.

The flames burn so hot that you can't see them, especially in a brightly-lit environment, at a very high temperature, quickly depriving the victim of ozlxygen.
