CHIMALHUACÁN, EDOMEX. A violent armed attack that occurred in the Progreso de Oriente neighborhood, in the municipality of Chimalhuacán, left a tragic balance of two people dead and four injured, including two minors.

According to police reports, the incident occurred on October 13 at around 2:23 p.m., in a grocery store located on Venustiano Carranza Street, corner with Luis Echeverria.

At least seven adults were drinking alcohol in the company of four minors when two men on a motorcycle arrived and, without saying a word, opened fire indiscriminately on those present.

At the scene, a man died immediately. Another individual, identified as José Luis "N", 50 years old, died moments later upon arriving at the 90-Bed General Hospital in Chimalhuacán due to the severity of his injuries.

The injured, Abhram Antony "N" aged 23 and Jhonatan "N" aged 29, had gunshot wounds to the chest and legs, so they were rushed to the same hospital.

Two children were also injured in the attack: Neitan, three years old, who was shot in the arm, and Kate "N", six years old, who was seriously injured after being shot in the abdomen. Both were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

At the scene, authorities found at least 17 spent 9-millimeter caliber shells, so the area was cordoned off by the municipal police while initial investigations were carried out.

The motive for the attack is still unknown. Residents of the Progreso de Oriente neighborhood expressed their outrage and pointed out the neglect they experience from the authorities, especially from Mayor Xochit Flores Jiménez, in the face of the increase in violence and insecurity in the area.
