A bear wandering near a school and kindergarten was shot in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the online publication “Information Agency “Kam 24” reported on November 7.

The predator was spotted near Sadovy Lane, 10/1, in close proximity to a school and kindergarten.

A game warden went to the scene. The situation could have developed unpredictably and the dangerous animal was soon eliminated.

Let us recall that a group of Russian specialists summarized the facts of brown bear attacks on people in Russia for the period from 1940 to 2017. During this period, 386 people were attacked. Most often, the dangerous predators attacked hunters, tourists, mushroom pickers, berry pickers, fishermen, geologists and foresters.

Every year during the period under study, there were about 4-5 attacks. This is a lot. But at the same time, it should be taken into account that half of all brown bears on the planet live in Russia. Their diet consists only half of plant food. The other half is animal food. This is mainly what explains such a high number of attacks on people.
