Last Tuesday (30/1), a man suffered a serious electric shock when trying to make a clandestine connection to a power pole on Tasso Jereissati av.01, Jardim das Oliveiras, city of Fortaleza, Ceará.



The accident occurred when the man climbed the pole in an attempt to make a “cat”, an unauthorized connection to the electricity grid to obtain energy without paying. The shock was so intense that his clothes burned due to the electricity.



The quick response of the emergency services was crucial in rescuing the man, who was rescued while still alive. However, his condition is considered very serious due to the severity of the electric shock and therefore his life is still at risk.

Authorities warn of the dangers associated with illegal attempts to connect to the power grid, highlighting the significant risks of serious or fatal injuries. In addition, such practices also pose threats to public safety and can result in substantial property damage, such as fires that can spread to homes.
