A nine-year-old boy was seriously injured after losing control of his bicycle on a hill and colliding with a parked truck. The accident happened in Castro, in the Campos Gerais region of Paraná, on Sunday, January 12.

According to reports, the child was unable to brake in time due to the high speed he reached on the way down. The impact resulted in an open leg fracture, wrist and head fractures, requiring two surgeries. After hospital treatment, the boy was discharged on the 14th and is now recovering at home.

"He is stable and improving, but it will be a difficult recovery. With faith, everything will get better," said the mother.

The accident was recorded by a security camera at a nearby residence. The images show the moment when the boy speeds down the street and tries to warn the driver of a car that was stopped in the middle of the road. A few moments later, he violently collides with the truck, being thrown a few meters forward.

Local residents highlighted the need for greater attention to safety in areas with steep slopes, especially where children are present.
