A video circulating in messaging groups on Wednesday night (February 19) shows the moment when a man, identified as Leandro Marques, 62, is knocked down during a rescue carried out by agents of the Amazonas Military Fire Department (CBMAM). The accident happened around 6 pm in the Educandos neighborhood, in the southern part of Manaus.

According to preliminary information, the victim received an electric shock on the roof of his house while cleaning a gutter. The elderly man's death was confirmed in a police report filed by his family.

According to preliminary information, family members heard a falling noise at the moment the elderly man received the electric shock. A team from the Specialized Homicide and Kidnapping Police Station was called, along with the firefighters.

The video in question shows the exact moment when four firefighters rescue the elderly man from the roof. During the procedure, the safety ladder falls, pulling the stretcher on which the elderly man was, which ends up falling to the ground. The entire action was recorded on video.

The elderly man's family reported that he was still alive before the rescue, raising the hypothesis that Leandro may have died as a result of the fall. The family stated that they intend to file a lawsuit against the State.

Up until the closing of this article, the exact cause of Leandro's death had not been confirmed. Examinations by the Forensic Medical Institute (IML) should determine whether his death was caused by the electric shock or by the fall suffered during the rescue.
