While "the loudest voice of merengue," Ruby Pérez, was livening up a party at the Jet Set nightclub, the roof of the entertainment establishment collapsed, and several people are presumed dead.



Part of the roof of the renowned nightclub collapsed around 1:00 a.m. this morning. Emergency agencies and civil protection are working on rescue efforts and immediately arrived at the disaster area to transport the injured or wounded.



So far, there is no confirmation of fatalities or an exact number of injured, but sources closely linked to the nightclub said that some are presumed dead.



The incident caused chaos in the area near El Portal Square, located at kilometer 6 of Independencia Avenue, where the nightclub is located.



Videos shared on social media show relatives who came to seek information about those affected. Jet Set, an iconic nightclub in Santo Domingo, is known for its popular "dance Mondays," featuring tropical music bands and urban artists.
