On April 27, 2025, Cottonwood Police responded to a domestic violence call involving 58-year-old David Coomer, who was reportedly armed and behaving erratically inside a closet with firearms. Bodycam footage captures the tense moments leading up to the confrontation. As officers arrived and spoke with Coomer’s spouse, the sound of a shotgun being racked could be heard. Coomer then exited the bedroom holding a shotgun, prompting officers to open fire. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
This video includes police body camera footage showing the response to a dangerous domestic violence call, the use of firearms, and a fatal encounter involving an armed suspect.
