FLORIDA — Police released bodycam video of the officer-involved shooting that left 36-year-old Randy Lansang dead in Daytona Beach.
The incident took place at around 8pm Wednesday at S. Ridgewood Ave. and Beville Road.
Officers were surveilling Lansang, who they say was wanted in connection to a shooting in the Fairway Estates neighborhood earlier this month, when he walked out of a home and into the passenger seat of a white car.
Police performed a traffic stop in order to take him into custody, boxing the vehicle in so that it could not leave.
Officers ordered Lansang to get out of the car and show his hands, but he did not comply. Police said Lansang was tased before officers noticed a gun in his hand and opened fire. A loaded gun was found in the car.
Lansang was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center where he died of his injuries.
Four officers involved in the incident are on paid administrative leave, the Daytona Beach Police Department said.
Lansang’s family is now planning to sue the police department to try and get the rest of the body cam videos, FOX 35 Orlando reported.
“There were multiple officers involved,” said Carlus Haynes, the family’s attorney. “Each of them had a body camera active, and we simply just want to see every angle of what happened.”
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating.
