Footage reveals the brutal attack on a shared van driver in Ventanilla. The incident occurred during the morning of Wednesday, February 25, while the driver was looking for passengers at Paradero Hogar, in front of a local security booth.

Attacks against transport workers continue without end. In just 24 hours, two public transport drivers have been killed by criminal organizations after demands for extortion payments to allow them to work.

Such is the case of the killing of a shared van driver in the Ventanilla district, which occurred around 5:00 a.m. this Wednesday near Paradero Hogar, in the Villa Los Reyes area.

The driver had parked his vehicle at the informal stop to pick up passengers along the Acho – Puente Nuevo route, which runs from Ventanilla to the Cercado de Lima area.

The brutal attack, captured on video, shows that two criminals were involved in the murder of the public transport driver. Initially, it was thought that the perpetrator himself recorded the attack.

However, the footage shows that while one person held the cellphone filming the attack, another accomplice pulled a firearm from his pocket and fired multiple close-range shots.

Before the shots were fired, the person recording the video stated that the attack was carried out "on behalf of 'Los Mexicanos'", a criminal organization that demanded extortion payments from these transport workers. After the attack, the criminals fled without a trace.

The incident was recorded as a warning to all threatened victims. The victim was identified as Joel Capa Espinoza, 35 years old, a father who leaves a void in his family.
