A Dalit woman was arrested last Thursday (8/10) after crushing her husband's head with a brick during an argument over lunch. The crime took place in broad daylight, in front of witnesses. The victim, identified as 40-year-old Satyapal, worked as a security guard at a stadium. According to police information, the couple had been married for more than 18 years and used to fight frequently, often for trivial reasons.

On the day of the crime, Satyapal had asked his wife, Gayatri Devi, 37, to prepare a meat meal. When he returned home in the afternoon and discovered that the meal was not ready, he questioned Gayatri, who explained that she had no money to buy meat. Angered, Satyapal attacked her with a stick. In response to the attack, Gayatri Devi picked up a brick and struck her husband in the head, causing him to stagger and fall out of the house. She then continued to hit Satyapal's head until she killed him, using the brick to crush his skull.

When the police arrived at the scene, they found Gayatri sitting over her husband's body, removing the brains from his skull to prepare a stew in the middle of the street. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar, Gayatri Devi has been arrested on charges of murder and will be produced before the Shahjahanpur local court. The couple had children, who lived with their grandmother in a house far from the couple's residence. Reports from the preliminary investigation indicate that the constant arguments between Satyapal and Gayatri Devi, often fueled by Satyapal's alcohol abuse, contributed to the state of depression in which Gayatri found herself.
