Froilanis Maireth Rivas Román was from Venezuela and was 33 years old. Her death due to a lightning strike shocks social media.
A chilling and speechless video went viral for capturing the exact moment in which lightning struck a woman, taking her life on the shores of a beach in Cartagena, Colombia, on the afternoon of Tuesday, November 14 , 2023 .
The woman, mother of two minor children, was walking on the beach and was struck by lightning. Due to the electric shock, she collapsed on the sand. A man also fell nearby, but managed to get up to go help the victim.
They identified the woman as Froilanis Maireth Rivas Román . She was from Venezuela and was 33 years old.
According to El Espectador , Rivas “was with his relatives in the town of La Boquilla.”
A woman, Rosmary Lara, said with pain: “Cousin from the heart, what great pain, my girl.”
Froilanis was quickly transferred to a nursing home, where her death was confirmed.
The director of the Emergency Regulatory Center (CRUE), Álvaro Cruz, indicated that an AMI ambulance transported her from Playa Azul Boquilla to the Serena del Mar Hospital, “where she entered the emergency room with cardiorespiratory arrest.”
Quoted in El Espectador, Cruz noted that “for 45 minutes the doctors tried to revive her without success and then declared her dead.”
Froilanis had two children: a boy (older) and a girl (younger), reported El Tiempo , a medium that said the information was obtained from the Venezuelan's Facebook.
In that network “she highlighted on several occasions that she was very happy with her motherhood.” And they add that, apparently, she had a clothing business on Instagram.”
In an image published on Facebook, in which she is accompanied by her daughter, she wrote: “Every day I thank God for having you, for having chosen me to be your mother, for giving me such a great blessing, my life without you would not be life.”
Among network users there is great shock about what happened and they wonder if the woman had any clothing in particular.
“It is possible that she had some metallic or gold, silver or even a cell phone, it is possible that this served as a connector or magnetic bridge and that is why the lightning struck her, because it would be good (to know in order to) take preventive measures.” ”said Dickson Galea.
When watching the video, others detailed that Froilanis was the only one who was “static” and that is why they thought: “She must have had her cell phone in her hand.”
In El Tiempo they explained, taking data from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, that “approximately 10% of people who are struck by lightning die, mostly due to a heart attack.”
Approximately 10% of lightning victims die and 70% suffer serious long-term effects.
In networks there are also words of regret and solidarity with the Venezuelan woman's family, especially for her children. “God bless her,” Blanca Beltrán asked. (YO)
