Authorities of Thua Thien - Hue province have prosecuted the case and prosecuted the driver of a 7-seat car in a particularly serious accident on the Cam Lo - La Son highway that killed 3 people.

As Thanh Nien reported, at about 10 a.m. on February 18, Mr. Phan Dinh Kieu drove a 7-seat car BS 36A-485.67 on Cam Lo - La Son highway in the south - north direction, carrying Mr. Phan Dinh Quy (46 years old, residing in Dong Tan Ward, Thanh Hoa City) and his wife, Mrs. Le Thi Hanh (41 years old) and 2 children, Phan Le Khanh Van (14 years old), Phan Dinh Quang (9 years old).

When arriving at Km48+200 Cam Lo - La Son highway in the area between Phong My and Phong Xuan communes (Phong Dien district), Mr. Kieu drove the car over from the right side of the BS 63C-136.59 tractor pulling the trailer. 63R-002.27 was traveling in the same direction, then turned left, colliding with this tractor, leading to a series of accidents.

The strong impact caused car 36A-485.67 to rush to the opposite side of the road, then continued to collide with truck BS 63H-005.68. Next, truck 63H-005.68 was hit by a BS 51D-150.90 tractor pulling a BS 51R-349.20 trailer running behind in the same direction.

The accident caused the 7-seater car to be thrown out of the lane, lying precariously on the road in a deformed state. On the highway, a truck was blocking the road and was hit in the head and side by two tractor-trailers.

The accident caused Phan Dinh Quang to die on the spot; Mrs. Le Thi Hanh and her daughter Phan Le Khanh Van were seriously injured and were taken to the emergency room at Central Hospital 2, but both died later. Only driver Kieu and Mr. Quy suffered minor injuries.

Cam Lo - La Son Expressway will open to traffic at the end of 2022, with a starting point at National Highway 9 in Cam Lo District (Quang Tri) and an ending point connecting to La Son - Tuy Loan Expressway in Phu Loc District. (Hue).
