“The investigative department for the city of Karachaevsk ... is conducting a procedural investigation into the death of a child in the village of Dombay, Karachaevsk urban district of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic,” the message says.

According to the department, the incident happened on Monday near the Muruju River in the village of Dombay.

“A tree fell on the roadway. A five-year-old child, who was near the car at that moment with his family, died on the spot from his injuries,” the release notes.

The department clarified that investigators are currently carrying out a set of verification measures aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
