Poland: On the night of February 25–26, 2026, in the village of Kadłub in Poland’s Opole region, 17-year-old Łukasz G. killed his 38-year-old stepfather and 87-year-old great-grandmother while they slept. He used a small axe and a hammer, inflicting multiple severe and deep wounds in what investigators described as an act of extreme brutality.

After the killings, he recorded and posted videos online. In one, he practices striking with the axe; in another, about two minutes long, he calmly states: “Good morning, I am a family murderer. I killed two people in my house.” He attempts to justify the crime by citing stress, family problems, and pressure to work and study, and also claims responsibility for recent false bomb threats in Poland. Some footage reportedly shows him licking blood from one of the tools.

A woman from Starachowice County discovered the videos and alerted police. The Central Cybercrime Bureau traced the IP address to Kadłub, where officers found the victims’ bodies. Following a manhunt, Łukasz was arrested the next day near the Oder River in Krapkowice County, hiding in a makeshift shelter. Tools believed to have been used in the crime were recovered nearby.
