Accordingly, while preparing to land on an empty lot at the end of the competition, the paraglider of the male athlete from Hanoi suddenly twisted, causing him to fall from above to the ground.

Although the authorities were quickly taken to the emergency room, the injury was too severe and he died.

The entire process of the accident was filmed by spectators standing at the landing site. The incident developed quite quickly, within just a few seconds from the moment of the incident, the pilot fell to the ground .

According to Kon Tum Provincial General Hospital, the victim was hospitalized in a deep coma, with multiple traumatic brain injuries, chest injuries, and broken pelvis. After emergency treatment, this person died about 3 hours later.

The Kon Tum paragliding tournament expands the theme "Discovering the great forest - Sa Thay 2024" organized by the People's Committee of Sa Thay district and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Kon Tum province.

This is the third time the tournament has been hosted by this locality. This year's tournament attracted 130 domestic and international paragliding pilots.

At the opening ceremony on March 22, Mr. Duong Quang Phuc - Chairman of Sa Thay District People's Committee, said that this district is aiming to become a national paragliding destination when continuously hosting this type of sport. .
